Presentation software for free
I have recently set up our new Samsung netbooks and used one very sucessfully to write scripts and give some PowerPoint presentations. But Word is not loaded, and neither is PowerPoint.
Catherine and I are using Open Office, an excellent alternative to the better know programs. Open Office is a free suite of programs which you can download. here’s the blurb…
OpenOffice.org 3 is the leading open-source office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. It is available in many languages and works on all common computers. It stores all your data in an international open standard format and can also read and write files from other common office software packages. It can be downloaded and used completely free of charge for any purpose.

You should also try SSuite Office for a free office suite. They have a whole range of office suites that are free for download.
Their software also don’t need to run on Java or .NET, like so many open source office suites, so it makes their software very small and efficient.

Thanks for that, Tracey. Have you used this software yourself? I had a look at the site and there seems quite a choice – but it wasn’t clear to me if there was any presentation software like PowerPoint or the OpenOffice Impress. Does SSuitesoft provide such a program?
I’m becoming a fan of open office. I just replaced two computers in my life and went with Open Office to save a few bucks. I am doing more stuff online with Google Docs also.
